Welsh driver Elfyn Evans won Rally Sweden on Sunday tearing round the final special to complete a flag to flag victory in his Toyota. This was Evans' second career victory, on only his second rally for new team Toyota. And it drew him level with Belgian Thierry Neuville atop the world championships after the second of 13 races. "Fantastic result after a great weekend," Evans said. "The team gave us everything we needed," said the 31-year-old who won the Rally of Wales in 2017 for his former Ford team. World champion Ott Tänak crashed out of the season opening Monte Carlo rally but was second here, just 12.7sec adrift in his Hyundai. His teenage teammate Kalle Rovanperä came an impressive third. The 19-year-old, son of former driver Harri Rovanperä, also picked up five precious championship points by winning the final power stage. This second leg of the World Rally Championship was drastically shortened due to a lack of snow caused by unseasonably mild weather. hdy/dmc/nr
