New Zealand roared back from a coronavirus-induced recession with record economic growth of 14.0 percent in the July-September quarter, official data showed Thursday. Statistics New Zealand (SNZ) said gross domestic product benefited from the lifting of domestic Covid-19 restrictions after the country succeeded in suppressing community transmission of the virus. "This resulted in the strongest quarterly growth in GDP on record in New Zealand, as the economy bounced back from the lockdown earlier in the year when non-essential businesses closed," SNZ senior manager Paul Pascoe said. ns/hr/dw
