German prosecutors said the man who drove his car into a crowd of carnival revellers in the town of Volkmarsen on Monday was a 29-year-old German who now faces charges of attempted homicide. The investigation was continuing "in all directions", Frankfurt prosecutors said in a statement, after police stopped short of calling the incident an attack.
