Diego Simeone sprung a surprise by picking Thomas Lemar for the first leg of Atletico Madrid's Champions League last 16 tie against Liverpool on Tuesday. Lemar was handed his first start of the year at the Wanda Metropolitano after the French winger was almost sold in the January transfer window last month. Alvaro Morata returned up front after injury while Diego Costa was passed fit enough to be included on the bench. Liverpool's Sadio Mane was also deemed ready to start after he came on as a substitute in their 1-0 win over Norwich on Saturday. Mane joined Mohamed Salah and Firmino in the familiar attacking trio.
