Libya's UN-recognised government on Saturday denounced a warning by Egypt that it could intervene militarily in its eastern neighbour, saying this would be considered a "threat to national security". "We strongly reject what was said by (Egyptian President Abdel Fattah) al-Sisi and consider it a continuation of the war on the Libyan people, interference in Libyan affairs and a dangerous threat to national security," said Mohammed Amari Zayed, a member of the Tripoli-based government's presidential council. His comments came after Sisi said that a push by Turkey-backed forces of Tripoli's Government of National Accord on the strategic city of Sirte, which is under the control of Cairo-backed strongman Khalifa Haftar, was a "red line" and grounds for "direct intervention" in Libya. rb/hkb/cm
