The Russian pair of Victoria Sinitsina and Nikita Katstalapov are the new European ice dance champions after ending the reign of French pair Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron in Graz on Saturday. The Russians scored 220.42 points, edging the French pair by 14 hundredths of a point and inflicting on them their first defeat in over two years. Papadakis and Cizeron were vying for their sixth successive European title and held first place going into Saturday's free dance. They had not lost to a European pair since 2014 and were unbeaten since the Olympics in 2018. Russia has now made a sweep of all the titles so far after Dmitri Aliev clinched the men's crown vacated by Spanish star Javier Fernandez on Thursday and Aleksandra Boikava and Dmitrii Kozlovskii took the pairs on Friday. Another Russian pair Alexandra Stepanova and Ivan Burkin took bronze. es/bsp/dj
