An unidentified member of the Oakland A's organization has tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the postponement of their Major League Baseball game Sunday at Houston, the league announced. This is the latest setback for MLB in a season where the Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals have already been forced to postpone games as a result of virus outbreaks among players. "The team conducted testing and contact tracing for the entire traveling party this morning and will self-isolate," the A's said Sunday in a statement. MLB said the game was postponed "out of an abundance of caution and to allow for additional testing and contact tracing to be conducted." The A's own the best record in the American League West division at 22-12, third-best in MLB behind the Los Angeles Dodgers and Tampa Bay Rays, with Houston next at 19-14. MLB was forced to delay the start of the 2020 season in March when COVID-19 shut down sports two weeks before the start of a scheduled campaign of 162 games per club. After months of talks over financial issues as well as safety measures, MLB and players agreed on a season of 60 games per team that began in July, played in empty home stadiums for television cameras. The season is set to conclude September 27 ahead of an expanded playoffs and finish as normal with the World Series at the end of October. js/pb
