Jaume Masia claimed victory in the season-opening Moto3 world championship race in Qatar on Sunday ahead of Spanish compatriot and fellow KTM rider Pedro Acosta. Masia finished the 18 laps of the 5.38 kilometre Losail circuit outside Doha in 38 minutes 29.620 seconds while Acosta was only 0.042 seconds behind. South Africa's Darryn Binder was a close third, just 0.094 seconds off the pace with Spain's Sergio Garcia and Argentine Gabriel Rodrigo filling out the top five. gw/dj
