President Emmanuel Macron will meet Friday with Venezuelan opposition leader Juan Guaido, who is touring Europe to rally support for his bid to oust his country's leader Nicolas Maduro, the French presidency said. "The president will hold talks at the Elysee Palace with Juan Guaido, leader of the Venezuelan National Assembly and interim president, on implementing an electoral process" for his country, an official in the presidency told AFP. Guaido defied a travel ban to meet with officials in London and Brussels before heading to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, this week. But despite warm welcomes, EU officials have not announced any concrete measures to help foster a political solution to Venezuela's deepening political and economic crisis. Guaido's campaign against the strongman leader Maduro is backed by Washington and other countries as well as large numbers of Venezuelans. "We are facing an international criminal conglomerate and we need your help," Guaido told Davos participants. "Alone, we are not going to get there." jri-fz/js/spm
