Talks on ending election violence in Ivory Coast, gathering President Alassane Ouattara and his main rival Henri Konan Bedie, got underway on Wednesday at a hotel in Abidjan, an AFP journalist reported. Their meeting is the first since the October 31 presidential elections, which Ouattara won by a landslide after an opposition boycott. Clashes sparked by Ouattara's decision to run for a third term have claimed 85 lives since August, according to an official toll issued on Wednesday. pgf-de/sba/ri/tgb
