A Turkish court on Friday ordered rights defender Osman Kavala to remain in jail pending his trial on charges linked to a failed 2016 coup against President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The presiding judge rejected the defence's request to release Kavala, who has been in custody without a conviction for over three years, and set a trial date for February 5, an AFP reporter in court said. fo/zak/raz/spm
