David Turnbull's long-range strike proved enough for Celtic to claim their fifth straight victory as a 1-0 win over Aberdeen narrowed the gap on Scottish Premiership leaders Rangers to 15 points. The Glasgow giants are still to face each other twice in the remaining nine games of the season, but it would take a monumental collapse from Steven Gerrard's men to not end Celtic's run of nine consecutive league titles. Turnbull has been one of few positives for Neil Lennon's men this season in his first season at Celtic after a move from Motherwell. The breakthrough came on 14 minutes when Turnbull was fed by Callum McGregor. The 21-year-old picked his spot in the bottom corner from 30 yards and drove home for his seventh goal in 16 matches Aberdeen have now failed to score in six straight matches to fall four points behind Hibernian in the battle for third. The Dons had a penalty claim rejected and hit the post through Florian Kamberi in the first half, but have now won just once in their last 10 games with the pressure mounting on manager Derek McInnes. At the other end of the table, second-bottom Hamilton remain in the relegation playoff place on goal difference after a 1-1 draw at St Mirren. On-loan Aberdeen striker Bruce Anderson salvaged a point after Ilkay Durmus opened the scoring for the Buddies, who move into sixth on goal difference ahead of Dundee United. kca/dj
