Peruvian police searching for two foreigners whose microlight aircraft was reported missing more than a week ago said Wednesday they had recovered a body from a beach south of Lima. The body was discovered by a surfer about 40 kilometers (25 miles) south of the capital and had yet to be identified, the police said. "Searches are being carried out on the beach at La Escondida, after the discovery of the remains of what is likely to have been one of the occupants," the police said in a statement on Twitter. The aircraft -- little more than a motorized hang-glider -- was being piloted by a 55-year-old Ecuadoran on a training flight when it disappeared on August 18 after taking off from San Bartolo airport, around 50 kilometers south of Lima. His passenger was a 65-year-old Spaniard living in Peru. On the day of the disappearance, a fisherman reported finding wreckage in the sea believed to be from the aircraft, police said. cm/fj/gm/db/st
