Poor weather conditions put paid to Tuesday's downhill training and cast doubt on Wednesday's closing World Cup speed race in Lenzerheide. The second training session fell the same way as Monday's first with snowfalls and high winds rendering the Swiss slope too dangerous, organisers announced. Training runs are obligatory for the downhill, which is why Wednesday's races are now in question. The International Ski Federation (FIS) has not so far given up hope of staging the men's and women races with the possibility of slotting in a training session early Wednesday. But that possibility appears difficult given the unhelpful weather forecast. If the races are lost it could play into the hands of overall World Cup leaders Alexis Pinturault and Petra Vlhova, as the downhills favour their closest rivals for the big crystal globe -- Marco Odermatt and Lara Gut-Behrami. Announcing the demise of Tuesday's dress rehearsal the FIS cited "the falls of snow and the current weather with a strong wind, and the work being carried out on the slope". rg/av/nr/gj
