The Indiana Pacers suspended assistant coach Greg Foster for one game and fined Georgian center Goga Bitadze for a heated confrontation during an NBA home loss to Sacramento. The incident took place in the third quarter of Wednesday's 104-93 Kings victory at Indianapolis, which dropped the Pacers to 30-35 and ninth in the Eastern Conference. The amount of the fine was not disclosed, nor was the date of the game Foster would miss, although it was expected to be Indiana's home contest Thursday against Atlanta. The club said it would reveal no more details on what it called an "internal team matter" in a statement. Foster yelled at Bitadze to protect the rim better after the Pacers surrendered a dunk to the Kings. After Bitadze made a 3-pointer, he turned to the Pacers bench and told Foster to sit down, using a profanity. At the next timeout, Foster began a heated exchange and moved toward Bitadze, having to be restrained by players and team staff members. The Pacers have struggled under first-year NBA coach Nate Bjorkgren. js/rcw
