"Nomadland", a drama about modern Americans travelling across the United States, was awarded the best film Bafta on Sunday and won Chloe Zhao the coveted best director award. The film, starring Frances McDormand, was chosen ahead of best film nominees "The Father", about dementia; "The Mauritanian", about the imprisonment of a suspected terrorist in Guantanomo Bay; "Promising Young Woman", a feminist dark comedy and Aaron Sorkin's court room drama "The Trial of the Chicago 7". csp/lc
