Anthony Hopkins won the best actor award on Sunday at the British Bafta awards for his role in "The Father", the portrayal of an elderly man dealing with the disorienting effects of dementia. The veteran British actor edged out competition from nominees Riz Ahmed for "Sound of Metal", Chadwick Boseman for "Ma Rainey's Black Bottom", Adarsh Gourav for "The White Tiger", Mads Mikkelsen for "Another Round" and Tahar Rahim for "The Mauritanian". csp/lc
