Belarus investigators on Thursday accused Russian mercenaries and top critics of President Alexander Lukashenko, Sergei Tikhanovsky and Mikola Statkevich, of plotting mass unrest ahead of presidential elections. A criminal case has been opened against "Tikhanovsky, Statkevich and 33 detained Russian citizens," the spokesman for the Investigative Committee, Sergei Kabakovich, told AFP.
