South Korea forward Yun Il-lok became the first player from his country to sign for Ligue 1 side Montpellier on Friday after joining the club as a free agent. The 27-year-old Yun has eight caps for South Korea and was out of contract after leaving Japan's Yokohama F Marinos at the end of December. He spent last season on loan at Jeju United in his homeland and scored 11 goals in 35 appearances for a team that was relegated. Yun is the second Asian player to turn out for Montpellier following Japan's Nozomi Hiroyama, who spent the 2003-04 season in the French top flight. No details were given about the length of Yun's contract. Montpellier are sixth in Ligue 1 and host second-tier Caen in the last 32 of the French Cup this weekend. jmc/mw/dj
