Yuki Tsunoda will drive for AlphaTauri in Formula One next season, becoming the first Japanese in the sport since Kamui Kobayashi in 2014. The 20-year-old, who had been racing in Formula Two, will replace Russia's Daniil Kvyat and partner French driver Pierre Gasly. "Like most racing drivers, it has always been my goal to race in Formula 1, so I am very happy with this news," said Tsunoda. "I realise that I will be carrying the hopes of a lot of Japanese F1 fans next year and I will be doing my best for them." Kobayashi was the last Japanese driver in the sport when he raced at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in 2014. ole/dep/dj/nr
