Switzerland's Daniel Yule leads the World Cup slalom at Chamonix on Saturday after the first leg ahead of French home hope Clement Noel and Stefano Gross. Yule, seeking his fourth win of the season, topped the times by 0.24s over Clement at the alpine ski station which staged the 1924 Winter Olympics. One rival that will be sitting out the second run scheduled for 1200GMT is Henrik Kristoffersen after the Norwegian leader of the overall and slalom World Cup standings straddled a gate. "This is something that can happen in slalom. It hasn't happened often to me in the World Cup, but there's no stress as there are still lots of races to come," he said. rg/av/nr
