French Ligue 1 side Nimes on Tuesday parted company with coach Bernard Blaquart, with assistant Jerome Arpinon stepping up to succeed him in the dugout. Blaquart, who is 62, had been under contract until 2023 but has left "by mutual consent". He has been working at the southern outfit since 2013 and became coach in 2015. He led the former club of Eric Cantona and Laurent Blanc to promotion to the top flight in 2018, ending an absence from the elite of a quarter of a century. However, the Crocodiles were 18th in the table when this season was suspended because of the coronavirus pandemic and were only guaranteed survival because the usual relegation play-off was cancelled. og/eba/as/jc
