Portugal's constitutional court on Monday rejected a law decriminalising euthanasia that had been approved by the parliament in January. The bill would legalise access to assisted suicide for adult patients in a situation of "extreme suffering and irreversible damage". The country's highest judicial body ruled that the situations considered for medically assisted suicide were not framed "with the necessary rigour", it said in a statement. tsc/fjp/pma/jj
