To claim this girl was murdered is factually wrong. When police show up and the girl is in the act of stabbing two other girls, they don?t have time to ask for anyone?s age, race, gender. Bodycam footage shows as the cops show up she is in the act of stabbing another person.

The murder of Makhia Bryant is not an isolated event; the criminalization and adultification of Black girls have had deadly consequences. To honestly care about Black life, we can’t forget how gender and race place black women at a unique disadvantage.
