Good morning. Today, Senate Democrats will vote for a bill that BANS simple voter ID checks at the ballot box. Yet a wide BIPARTISAN MAJORITY of Americans support requiring ID to vote. ...is Chuck Schumer really 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 out of touch with the American people??

States would not not be banned from requiring voter ID by the "For The People Act" (HR 1). Under HR 1 (Section 303A), states requiring voter ID must allow sworn statements to be accepted as voter ID. The text of Section 303A can be read at Congress.gov:

The bill doesn't "ban" ID checks at the ballot box. It requires states to give voters an alternative to the state-required ID: a signed statement under penalty of perjury attesting to their identity. That's a loosening of many state ID laws, but not a ban. Fact Check:
