Until 2008, most judges ruled that the Second Amendment does not cover individual firearms ownership. A 2008 Supreme Court decision states "The Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia"

The text of the Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights plainly says ?the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.? And the landmark Heller ruling by the Supreme Court affirmed that right.

Review:
It is debated whether the 2nd Amendment gives rights to individuals or solely to militias to bear arms. Only recently, in the 2008 DC vs Heller case, did the Supreme Court affirm it as an individual right. Prior courts had held it was solely a right of militias.

The Bill of Rights is written to be all inclusive. The 4th Amendment applies to your locked phone, even if the word "phone" is not in the text.
