This tweet is misleading as the person identified by Senator Cotton was also eligible for a stimulus check in both of the 2020 COVID stimulus bills approved in a Republican-majority Senate, including by Senator Cotton, and signed into law by then-President Donald Trump.

After a Dec. 2020 9th Cir. ruling following the first two stimulus checks, there had to be express language against prisoners receiving the checks. Democrats voted against the Cassidy, Cotton, & Cruz Amendment that did just this.
